  1. Excellent product

Already have a truckman top fitted with a lock but never felt secure as the tailgate could be easily forced open. Brought tailgate lock and very pleased with the product. Only took an hour to fit and the instructions and photos made the whole job very easy to do. Highly recommended.

  2. Great way to secure the rear of your truck

Bought this to finally secure the bed of my truck. I am usually rubbish at DIY but managed to fit this so I can definitely confirm the simple installation process. One tip I would add though is do not use all of the protective flexible tubing to protect the wiring going through the tailgate grommet (as I did), save a few inches for the wiring that needs to pass through the grommet under the passenger seat also. Some electrical tape took care of that small oversight, so an easy fix. Other than that, the instructions were fairly clear, although I have to admit I did not initially realise that the "red clips" were scotch locks to splice the new locks wiring into the trucks wiring loom, so it would not hurt to explain that somewhere for complete wiring novices like myself. Also, to make sure that the scotch locks are closed fully to ensure a good electrical connection.

Tools used: Star head screwdriver to remove screws from tailgate cover. Socket set needed to secure locking mechanism in place. Scissors to make hole in grommet to pass tubing / wiring through. Needle nose pliers to assist getting wiring through and help replace grommet under passenger seat. Ratchet driver to remove screws from door sill cover and a set of regular pliers to close the scotch locks fully.

Time to fit: About 80mins for a complete DIY amateur like myself

I have a van vault slider bolted to my truck, with this tail gate lock robbers will have to break two locks to get to any tools and once the canopy goes on well it be even more secure highly recommend to get one fitted I am even gonna tell u to get it done for the sake of it as u lock the truck u hear it lock its load which is great any one watching will know it's locked brilliant

  5. Great product, simple installation

I bought this for my L200. I was hesitant about fitting it myself but I live too far away from the fitting centre. I needn't have been, fitting was really simple and the person on the phone were really helpful explaining each step of the installing process before I purchased. Running the wire under the vehicle is there hardest bit but it really does only takes an hour to fit and works perfectly.

  6. locked tailgate

Posted by Brian on 10th Apr 2017

Bought this tailgate lock after reading about them on L200 forums which gave it rave reviews. Was unsure how way easy/hard it would be to fit. My view is anybody with a bit of common sense will fit this with ease. Very easy to fit and the picture on the instructions are spot on. Feel so much better about the truck knowing tools are safely locked away in the back. Shame Mitsubishi can't fit this as standard. Good quality product.

  7. Does the job

Seems very well made...fitted in under an hour (including an error with wrong loom selection by me)...works as described..fitted to my 2006 L200 Barbarian. For that model vehicle only thing to watch is you connect to the rearmost positioned wiring loom under the drivers seat (there are 2 looms close to each other)...and select the wires with the 2 silver dots...I believe they are redoing the installation info to say that....

  8. Great lock

Great price for such a simple thing. Shame the manufacturers don't fit them as standard and why they don't is a mystery!
Worth its money and does exactly what it should in locking the tailgate, I can now fit my roll top without being worried the tailgate can be undone and tools stolen. Don't know how easy it is to fit as I had my mechanic at local garage fit it while it was in for service but he didn't say it was an issue so must be fairly straight forward.

  9. Mitsubishi L200 Series 4 Remote Tailgate Locking Kit

Posted by Nick Walker on 21st May 2016

Great kit, easy to fit, makes your L200 load area safe / secure.
£25000 Trucks??? this should really be fitted as standard, not after market.
    Takes about 1hr to fit.

  10. Secure Locking Tailgate Central Locking Kit

Posted by Phil on 5th Nov 2015

I bought this lock to secure the tailgate of my L200 after I replaced the old hard top with a tonneau cover. The kit is excellent, with good instructions as to how it should be fitted. Fitting the actuator was the easy bit...it simply bolts on. Routing the cable along the chassis was a little more challenging, but only due to access under the vehicle with side steps...the cables route through existing grommets and are easily spliced into the loom under the passenger door sill. Fitting the actuator 10 minutes, routing the cable and splicing about 30 minutes. The unit give a reassuring "clunk" as it locks the handle denying access to the load space under the tonneau. Very pleased with the overall product and fitting instructions.
